I find it very hard to stay on track with my anxiety and depression, it clouds my mind making it impossible to find any other emotions. I have often found that the answer to the worry and the struggle is to pray. The reason for this is anyone can go to a dark place and pray. Even if you are praying to someone different than I am or you don't even know quite who you are talking to yet, It doesn't matter. Either way you are getting it out and that is the important part. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , these are the suicide rates for the U.S. from 1993-2010. I know we have two years that are unaccounted for, but you get the point I'm trying to make. Often when someone is going to commit suicide they do not tell a soul, they keep it bottled up inside until later on something or someone triggers those emotions and they decide it is time to carry it out. I'm wanting to talk about one of the main problems with our society and one of the problems that we have all experienced, SILENCE. Now everyone has their own beliefs and I understand that, but why not let those emotions out in some way, and what is a healthier way than saying a little prayer? You can be completely honest and let it all out so your not bottling it up and regretting it later on. I've had people come to me and say, "I don't know what to pray about?" If you don't know what to pray for then perhaps you aren't thinking large enough? You can pray about anything and I certainly feel we have enough ammo in this world bottled up. If your not used to praying, you may start with two things that you are thankful for and then a list that you want freed from. For instance, on my list:
- Thank you Lord for my family and helping us through another day all together.
- Thank you for helping my Uncle Tom get safely through surgery to recovery.
- Please continue to watch over their family and help him through his recovery and have good results.
- Cleanse my worries about everything I go through in my daily life and help me have peace because I know only you can bring it to me.
I like to start that with the things I'm thankful for, but it is very important to appreciate the little things that God has done for you everyday and that no matter how much you struggle and fall that there is always a chance to get back up because your still breathing. When people are hurting around you in this world, would it be so scary to ask them what is wrong? You never know when the words you say to them could be those little words of hope that are exactly what they need to make their change and waver through their obstacles. Below is a song that I feel describes exactly how I feel when I am down and my husband always goes straight to "Hedley" when I need a little pick me up. If you like some slower rock ballads that will help you get motivated, go to "Youtube.com" and look up "Hedley" and listen to their entire "Storms album", I promise you if you are deeply depressed it will give you some inspiration. If you don't have enough ammo to pray about and can't get yourself into it, I might suggest praying for someone else. If your still heavily into working on yourself and you are not sure what you want or how to express it exactly, there are people homeless on the side of the street in most cities, there are children that won't have Christmas this year, and there are so many families that lose their loved ones to suicide every year. I'm sure they would love a prayer and remember that again, "You never know until your at your all time time low, how strong you truly are."
