When watching the Lion King with my son I noticed that now being an adult and not watching them very often I have forgotten most of the lessons provided by Disney movies. As a child, you don't have many things to worry about, your life is fairly relaxed. Back then the words, "Hakuna Matata" didn't mean much, we just focused on dancing to the music and watching the movie. But now in my adult life I could use the words to that song as therapy. The other night when tucking my son into bed he had a 102.9 fever and just as any other mother would I was deeply worried about him. I started crying because there wasn't anything I could do, I had already tried cooling him down with a bath and giving him medicine and was so worried and overtaken by sadness that I forgot to pray to him before I left the room. When I walked down the hallway to use the bathroom all I heard was my 2 year old say, "Me, you, pray, momma." He had said nothing through the three whole books I read and now the first words that came out of his little mouth while he was burning up and feeling so sick was that he wanted me to say a prayer. I walked back in his room and prayed to make him better and heal him. I finished saying amen and he said, "Your boo boos momma." I then had to repray for my wounds and for God to make me better. After that he laid down, closed his eyes, and drifted off to sleep. I was so unbelievably proud of him! After I prayed he was calmed and went to sleep because he felt that his worries were taken away and that everything was alright. Leave it to my 2 year old to show me not to cry or get upset, that the first thing I need to do is pray. He is the wisest little boy in the world. When walking back out into the living room one verse appeared in my mind and I'm sure was put there for good reason. "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:6-7
In this life I know that when confronted with a problem we cannot just burst into a Lion King song and feel that everything is all better. What I am saying is that not all problems are life threatening and that we get our panties in a wad too easily. All things can be solved by saying that verse. All things can be solved by singing that song, so next time you feel that everything is tumbling down and that your about to lose your temper or lose all hope in humanity use the words from this song. And I promise once you hear it once, it will be be stuck playing in your head the entire day.
"It mean no worries for the rest of your days, it's our problem free, philosophy, Hakuna Matata. "
God is like this song, he takes your worries away and he makes you have peace. So let that peace come over you and when anything makes you sad remember that you have a chance to have no worries by praying about everything you go through. Take it from me after that, my son was only sick for one more day.
Have a good day everyone!
