How People Treat You

We teach people how to treat us
Setting boundaries with People!
Has someone ever made you mad as hell in what they did or said to you? You may think, 'who do they think they are?' Or- 'that person was SO mean to me!' I used to be so mad at people for saying something about me or being mean to me. Now, I internalize the thoughts. What have I said or done in the past to teach the person to treat me this way? If a stranger, I wonder what has happened in their life which made them so hard, so demeaning, so rude. I pray for stranger's peace. Perception is a huge insight into people, open up every sense you have to work on the situation. For years I was a victim, as people said or did things to me I was silent...condoning, allowing, etc. SO I WAS AS GUILTY AS THE PERSON WHO WAS MEAN OR RUDE, I ALLOWED IT. Now I ask them to stop. If negativity is around me I comment to stop or I leave the person or the place. You create the world around you, your home, your family. Many peoples demeanors will be a reflection of you, a mirror of sorts. Example: If your kids are very selfish, look in the mirror, have you been selfish with them? I don't only mean selfish in possessions, also time and attention. What about asking a spouse, mother, sister- how have I taught you to treat me? You may be surprised at their comments! Life can be bitter or better, the decision is yours. The hardest part after realization to change, is change itself. We as adults like the ruts we form in our comfort zone...it takes really hard times to change...unless you change your mind and fight like hell for a better life!
