September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. When trying to find a topic to write about I stumbled upon dozens of stories of parents and family members of children who have lost their battles with cancer. As a mother I know it is important for all of these children to have their voices heard and thaat we remember that even today only 3 to 4 percent of cancer funding goes towards our children. This problem needs awareness and we are no closer than we were 20 years ago to finding a cure to the #1 disease killer of children in this country. But, we can't give up hope that a cure will be found for each and every type of cancer that plagues our children today. We have hundreds of people who march for Breast Cancer in adults, but we have very little awareness for the children who suffer with all types of cancer. What is more important than our children? Also scientists are baffled at what causes cancer in children, adults have many environmental factors such as smoking, alcohol, and other health hazards, but they still are no closer to finding out how children get cancer. And the survival rates are one of the saddest things I've ever seen, some forms of cancer having a survival rate of 30% in children, while adult cancer some forms have a survival rate of well over 80%. If I was any of these parents I wouldn't feel that there is enough awareness nor would I feel that doctors were helping my children all that they can. For this post I am going to put direct links to testimonials and stories of children who deserve our respect and to be recognized this month. I also want to raise awareness that there are hundreds of facebook pages for these children, there are funds to help children still battling cancer, and this topic needs more awareness!!! First I will put sites that are fighting to raise awareness for childhood cancer and the facts;
Now I will put the links for testimonials and this is only a few, keep in mind that all you have to do is put childhood cancer testimonials into google and there will be a lot that come up.
But even while we are having a hard time battling with childhood cancer, the love and kindness of people to raise awareness for these childhood is incredible!
So look around and see what there is to show your support for the children who are battling cancer!
