3 Verses to Happiness

I haven't blogged in well over a month, I have missed putting my thoughts out to you and I'm sorry for those who have needed a little inspiration and have had nothing to read. Being pregnant with our second child this pregnancy hasn't been a breeze and I needed to sit back and get away from all forms of technology for a while. But, regardless I know that it's just as important for me to get my crazy thoughts out as it is for someone to randomly search motivational and have the perfect words to make their day so I need to find time for myself and for all of you. Lately I have had some dark times as far as thinking that everything I do is good enough. What is good enough to God? When I was thinking about this the other day I found myself feeling guilty even asking the question. The first thing that popped in my head is John 3:16 and though I think it is sometimes overused in sermons it is the best example of how good enough each and every one of us really is: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" -John 3:16. Does that say that no matter what we do we are not enough for God? It makes me angry sometimes how critical I can be with myself, I know I should strive to be better everyday, but sometimes when I'm easily defeated I look up and say, "Remind me who I am to you." When we feel failure it is very easy to forget the simple facts of God. The first thing I try to remind myself daily is of this verse, "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 8:38-39
I can think of a time almost every week where I can use them as inspiration, if there were words I'd put on a post-it note to keep me going and read over and over Romans 31-39 would be those. I even made the words larger because that is how incredible I feel they are! We first and foremost need to remember everyday that we can never lose our worth to God, we can in our minds be the lowest most worthless person, but we need to remember that God did not put us there, it is your fight and you have never been worthless to God, all God has proven you is how much he loves you and how we can reach for that love anytime everyday. My favorite part is, "Neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow." Only because everyday we have fears or worries, they never go away entirely and he is saying that even with of those we can never be seperated from his love. What a glorious revelation. The second thing I like to remind myself of everyday is this verse, my second go-to instant inspiration, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." -1 John 1:9
Obviously since we are talking about remembering how much we're worth to God we have to remember that we can leave anything with him. I don't know about any of you, but I know I find a lot of comfort knowing that I can leave anything on the table with God, what a blessing it is to be able to get everything out in whatever way we prefer to shed it all, whether it be praying or praising or just simply talking like a friend, we get to a point where we need to be 100% comfortable with God and need to be able to leave all of our sins and troubles down and make it through the day. Often we all bury ourselves under past failures and feelings of defeat that we forget to lay the cross down, Christ carried it for us, he took our punishment for our sin so the least we can do is lay ours down, be honest with God, and truly repent for what we feel we should. And keep in mind that when you repent you leave the worries and trouble that come along with it with God, he will wipe it all aside and rest your mind. It may not happen instantly, but you will get to a point where you no longer are shadowed by what you were holding inside and you will be an all around happier person knowing that you have a close and amazing relationship with God. The third and last verse that I know I would die without is, "The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise him." - Psalm 28:7
One of my very personal favorites because often my favorites are verses about praising God, because it is something I love to do. I like to finish off all of my motivational thoughts of the day with knowing that I will be shielding from everything I could endure in one day by reminding myself that God is my strength and that I can make it through anything with him. Remembering that no matter how unworthy I feel of God's love I love to remind myself about the importance of God in my life as my salvation and my shield and how much he helps me through. Regardless of how low you feel, there is an unbelievable peace about knowing that he is there. There is nothing better when you have troubles than knowing you are never facing them alone. And it is just as important to remind ourselves how much we should praise and love him back as it is to remind ourselves of the love he has for us. Well I know that everyone is different and that different people have different ways to find happiness, but I hope that since it has been a while since I have written that I have helped someone out there make this day better. These verses help me through everyday and are amazing examples of how much we should never feel unloved by God because he is always there and we can always find happiness through Him. Well I hope that everyone has an amazing weekend and that you find rest to whatever worries and sadness that keeps you from enjoying this beautiful day. And remember, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.” -Psalms 4:8
I know that today no matter what worries me, I am safe in Him and he will give me peace from my feelings of not being enough. So everyone, I would encourage you that when you feel down there is no shortage of inspiration out there that is just what you needed to hear. Everyone have an amazing day and here is a song just to start the day out right. :)
