One of my passions has always been raising money for Alzheimer’s research. Not many people know this, but my mother Loretta, had Alzheimer’s for 10 long years. I watched my mom go through the various stages of Alzheimer’s while the disease slowly robbed my mother of her memories of her home and family and left just a mere shell of a woman until her eventual death last year.
Every year the Alzheimer’s Association holds the Longest Day during the summer solstice. This year the Longest Day will be held on Jun 21, 2015. The great thing about this event is that you can put your own team together and decide what type of event that you want to do to raise money for Alzheimer’s research. Registration is only $15 through 2/28/15 at act.alz.org. There are numerous stories on the website for great ideas that may include, dancing, hiking, biking, parties, crafting, and much more. The sky is the limit. So put your team together soon and raise money for this important research.
